Avène Skincare Review

Last year I started seeing Avène products pop up all over Instagram and I was immediately intrigued. I have forever been on the hunt for the perfect skincare brand for me, while trying out many that I have liked I really wanted to find that holy grail range that worked wonders on my skin. And I think I may have just done that.

Avène skincare products are based around thermal water, being a key ingredient in their products providing minerals that soothe and prevent irritation. Their range appeals to all skin types, with special products for sensitive skin, dry skin and acne prone skin. My skin type is a little bit of a mix. I get quite dry and require a lot of hydration, but can be prone to oils in the t-zone. I am also prone to hormonal breakouts and blemishes along my jawline and on my chin. I use skincare morning and night almost every day!

Some of the products featured in this post have kindly been gifted to me by Adore Beauty. Adore Beauty is an Australian online beauty store that provides many of my favourite makeup & skincare brands. They also offer payment via After Pay (hell yes ??), which is a big yes in my book! I ordered from them so many times & the customer service has always been amazing as well as ridiculously fast shipping ? Their website is www.adorebeauty.com.au if you would like to check out the brands & products they have on offer! All opinions are honest and my own as always guys!

 Avène Cleanance Micellar Water
I am a sucker for Micellar Waters, they just make the makeup removal process a hell of a lot easier! I have always used the Garnier product but since trying other Avène products I thought I would take the plunge and test out this one. The verdict – I’m in LOVE. I tested it out using a cotton pad to remove a full face of full coverage makeup and it just melted off my skin so easily. I didn’t have to rub or tug at my skin at all and I found that I was using less cotton pads then I normally would. I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Avène Cleanance Gel*
This cleanser is apart of the Cleanance range which is targeted at acne prone skin. It is soap free and designed to “remove impurities from the skin and help reduce excess sebum without drying out the skin…“. I don’t use this cleanser everyday, but I do use it when I feel like I am breaking out or beginning too. It has worked really well to minimise my blemishes, better than any other brand so far! I switch up with a sensitive skin cleanser so i’m not being too harsh on my skin as I cleanse twice daily.

Avène Extremely Gentle Cleanser
This cleanser is targeted for people with hypersensitive skin. I use it most of the time, unless i’m using my Cleanance gel. It feels very gentle and hydrating on the skin. Its said to “use a minimum number of ingredients selected for their gentleness” and it “reduces skin reactivity and provides long-lasting protection by restoring the hydrolipidic barrier“.

Avène Thermal Spring Water 300mL
Basically this is just water in a spray can. But you know what, its got me hooked! I use it as a toner by spritzing some onto my face post-cleanse & pre-moisturiser. It gives me that added hydration that I need having a dryer skin type. Its actually a really handy product to have, you can even use it when applying makeup in the same sort of way you would use MAC Fix+. It is said to have “soothing and softening” properties and is beneficial for sensitive, hypersensitive and allergenic skin types.

Avène Cleanance TriAcnèal Expert*
I use this moisturiser religiously at night time. Again, its a part of the Cleanance range that is aimed towards acne prone skin. This product contains Diolènyl (reduces bacteria, redness, eliminates spots & blackheads), X-Pressin (smooths texture) and Retinaldehyde (unblocks pores, anti-acing, reduces marks). Definitely going to keep using this one as I am seeing amazing results already!
Price: $27.95 at Adore Beauty

Avène Hydrance Optimale Aqua Cream-In-Gel*
This is the newest product to launch from Avène. It is formulated to be a light weight cream in a gel form. I have found that a little bit goes a long, long way with this so definitely worth the price! I love hydrating creams and have been using this after toning in the morning. It leaves my skin feel super fresh and healthy which I love! It is formulated to protect and hydrate the skin.
Price: $42.95 at Chemist Warehouse

I’m guessing you guys can already tell, but I am in love with Avène products. I have been using them for almost two month now and I can really see a difference in my skin texture and a reduction in blemishes. Its definitely worth trying these out if you have similar skin problems as me or if you are just looking for a new brand to try as they cater for all skin types!

Do you use Avène? What is your favourite skincare brand? ❤️

I used to use the Avene face cleanser for oily skin. I haven’t used it in a long time and your post is making me wonder why. I have to get some Avene to rekindle the love. Great post Georgia!
